I have found both of these statements to be true, and do not know why either of them are true. I'd also say that the Coke from McDonald's is often better than the Coke at other establishments as well.
I'm a stickler for Dr. Pepper on tap. I switched purely to diet soda a while ago, and the fountain/can differences became a lot less noticeable. I hate drinking soda out of plastic bottles, they always end up tasting like my own saliva and sicking me out.
I always wondered why Mountain Dew tastes better in a can than in a plastic bottle.
